The Academy of Chinese Traditional Opera

The Academy of Traditional Chinese Opera in Beijing was founded in 1950. It is already regarded as the "cradle of Beijing opera".
The educational subjects are varied and include acting, direction, music, script, stage decoration, and artistic education. Since 1950, about 5000 students finished their studies at the renowned academy and occupy today important positions in the field of the Beijing opera all over the country.
In the last years, the Beijing opera has attracted more and more interested persons from abroad. In the course of the increasing cultural exchange many students from all over the world, especially from Europe, are coming to attend the academy. Since 1992, more than 250 students from abroad attended the academy.
